TEATRO DECIERTOPICANTE

Name: Teatro Deciertopicante
Location: Tacna - Peru - Latin America
Specialisation: traditional theatre

Teatro Deçiertopicante (DCP) is a theatre that has been working for almost ten years in Peru and performs at festivals in the surrounding countries. The composition of the group is varied and consists of players, movers, builders, visual artists and an architect. The group is good in drama and working with local legends. The players are very colourful in their theatrical images. DCP is an organization of potentially major importance in a region where it is not customary to support arts and culture. To achieve this, DCP recently also works together with the art school in Tacna and with the private university Tacna Departmente Architecture.

Cooperation with Deçiertopicante has become a collaboration of more than 3 years in which several projects have been made. In 2006-2007, the first theatre education project was carried out by Helen Lauchart. This was followed up by Malgorzata Haduch, who worked for 6 months on a modern choreography. The artistic level changed much for DCP and a sequel was quickly scheduled. In 2008, this led to DESIERTO, a project of enormous magnitude, which benefited from cooperation between international theatre makers and artists and was combined with a multidisciplinary work style at an open location in the desert.
