LOSAUK is a research institute for development and is active in many different areas. They work on a better social and economic living environment through their own projects, and through attracting national and international projects. Theatre is one of the resources that LOSAUK uses for this goal. LOSAUK creates many cultural and theatrical performances for the rural areas in order to stimulate change and awareness around social issues.
Theatre Embassy has been a partner of LOSAUK for some years. In addition to the previous workshops, the artistic director and a teacher from the theatre school De Trap in Amsterdam went in 2007 to Bangladesh to visit for a few weeks. They provided a workshop on acting and theatre principles and applied techniques just like the ones used in De Trap. The actors and actresses from LOSAUK learned to use these new ‘tools' in their acting and making of Jatra, the traditional peasant form of theatre.
